Makers

Eileen Kennedy and Jef de Buyzer are the principals of Pulse Requisite. After completing degrees in fine art and art history and working in carpentry, Eileen and Jef won coveted spots at Europe’s premier woodworking design school, Parnham College. They returned to California to break tired design templates and production methods with intelligent and joyful ideas turned into wood. The New York Times has called Juice the "product of a happy childhood not a design degree or a jigsaw." And the San Francisco Chronicle illustrated the entire Juice collection in its review of the ICFF home furnishings show. Pulse Requisite designs are in homes in the U.S. and abroad and are displayed in The Study Gallery of Poole, in Dorset, England. Eileen believes in sympathetic magic: the power of carefully crafted objects to alter lives. She studied art history and fine arts from Skidmore College before finding furniture making. Jef comes from a long line of Belgian furniture makers. He began his studies at Amsterdam Furniture College and claims his finishing school is Mt. Shasta, where he backcountry snowboards every weekend he's not building exquisite guitars.
